New €11M ALDI store in Kinsale gets go ahead

An Bord Pleanála confirm planning permission for new Cork store which will create 30 jobs

ALDI Ireland confirmed today that its new €11M store in Kinsale, Co. Cork will open, as An Bord Pleanála grants full planning permission for the development.

The new store will see the creation of 30 new permanent jobs in the town, while up to 50 jobs will be supported during the construction period.

Cork County Council had previously granted local authority planning permission for the project, which includes 102 car parking spaces, 24 bike spaces and four electric vehicle charging points, alongside a 1,315sqm store designed in ALDI’s award-winning Project Fresh layout.

Commenting on the decision, Colin Breslin, Managing Director of Buying & Services, ALDI Ireland said:

“We are delighted that An Bord Pleanála have given the green light for the development of our new store in Kinsale.

“Every new ALDI store brings greater choice, quality, and value to shoppers, while creating important well-paid jobs in the community. We look forward to developing and opening the store and bringing unbeatable ALDI value to Kinsale.

“As outlined in our Report ‘The Financial Impact of Ireland’s Planning System Delays on the Irish Consumer’, published last September, ALDI stores bring monthly savings of €78,333 to the communities they operate in. Our goal is to deliver this value within reach of every town, village, and rural community in Ireland, and we have ambitious plans to expand our store network.”
